#14: Glendale Southern Pacific Railroad Depot
Added to the National Register of Historic Places on May 2, 1997
Originally built in 1924, this here Glendale Railroad Depot has a restored churrigueresque revival facade (who wouldn’t revive a style that’s so much fun to say?), and wowee is it a fine restoration.
Southern Pacific shut down over 30 years ago, but this stylish depot is still serving Amtrak, Metrolink & Greyhound. Though it makes you wonder why so many historic transit stops feature such insane architecture and art on the inside – who would want to travel when there’s so much to look at right there in the train station???
Also – forgive my wincing in the below videos. Sun was RIGHT in the peepers.
