#12: North Hollywood Amelia Earhart Regional Library

My local LAPL branch, and still my favorite LAPL branch.

Added to the National Register of Historic Places on May 19, 1987

I’m lucky that my local library happens to be one of the prettiest local branches in LA. Gorgeous brickwork and Spanish-style roof, exposed wood beams on the inside and clerestory, stained glass and a bunch of tiled quotes from Sydney Lanier, the confederate poet who gave this branch its original name (it was since renamed after Amelia Earhart, who lives nearby in Toluca Lake). This branch won all sorts of preservation awards for its expansion and restoration in 2002, and it deserves every one.
